Who killed Sara? is a Mexican (Spanish language) crime thriller showing on Netflix.
Season-1 :
Eighteen years ago, Sara, a teenager dies when she tries parasailing on a trip with her brother Alex and their friends. Alex gets framed for her murder by a rich family and serves his sentence. Now he is back and looking for the real killer.
The story grips right at the outset and each time it progresses ahead by 15 mins, there is a flashback and we are taken into the past to the day Sara died and the circumstances prior. This back and forth makes it exciting, keeps us busy and guessing. The story is powerful, with strong characters and intriguing sub-plots. Was hoping to validate my guess on the murderer, but the mystery doesn't end in season-1. Instead, it ends up with more questions!
Season-2 :
After a wait of over a month, the second season is out and I binge-watched in 2 days!
In the end of season-1, when the mystery was about to get solved, a new angle had emerged. Season-2 again grips right at the outset and supplements the previous story with flashbacks from a new POV. A different aspect of Sara's character is revealed and a couple of side characters from the past come into focus and capture the narrative. A few scenes look too 'hindi filmly' and illogical, but otherwise, the strong cast and twists in the sub-plots make it exciting. The mystery is solved in the end, and just when I was waiting for the end credits to flash up, one of the characters mentions that the reality is something else. So, the window for a sequel is kept open and would wait for that!
I would highly recommend this series.
